The spirit of summertime is here, and south Florida offers a variety of festivals and events sure to spice up your summer. No matter the kind of adventure that’s calling you, south Florida has endless discoveries and memories to be made in store. So gather your crew, pack up your Subaru Outback, and head out to one of these unique and memorable Florida summer festivals this summer.

Summertime Moonlight Sea Turtle Walks (Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science, many dates available)

Tthe Museum of Discovery and Science invites naturalists of all ages to participate in the annual Moonlight Turtle Walks, occurring at 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in late June through mid-July. Search the beach by moonlight to observe nesting loggerhead sea turtles in one of the great spectacles of nature.

Underwater Music Festival (Looe Key Reef, July 13)

For over 25 years, snorkelers and divers have flocked to Looe Key Reef to take part in the Underwater Music Festival, which raises support for reef protection and conservation. Underwater speakers pump tunes below the surface, where the antics of the divers keep up with the times.

Key West Lobsterfest (Key West, Aug. 8-11)

This “celebration of our favorite crustacean,” as it is affectionately called, is basically a big party for the “bug,” or Florida Lobster, that celebrates the opening of Lobster Season. Rooftop lobster boils, street fairs, live music, and even diving for lobster makes this south Florida festival one you won’t want to miss.
